Sofiia Lomidze is a 17-years-old violinist.
She began her musical
journey at the age of 3 at the Betz Dan Jewish Cultural Center in
Kharkiv, Ukraine. Later, under the profound influence of her first
violin teacher, O. Yevheneva at the Kharkiv Children's Music School,
Sofi won numerous national and international competitions.
In 2021, Sofi was a participant in the Odessa Golden
Violins festival, where she had a masterclass with Olga Kaler(US).
When the war started in February 2022, Sofi was forced to move to
Georgia, for safety and continued her education there. Welcomed by
her father's homeland, she was accepted into Tbilisi Central Music School. She excelled in competitions and
participated in master classes with esteemed musicians and
professors such as Itzhak Rashkovsky(UK), Leonid Zeide
(Australia), Roman Mints (UK), Wojciech
Szlachcikowski (Poland), Manana Kantaria(Georgia).
Sofi dreams of glorifying the indomitable spirit of Ukrainians and Georgians
Currently, she studies at The Purcell
School in London under the guidance of Aiste
Dvarionaite. She has
performed at numerous prestigious venues, including Cadogan Hall,
St. John's Smith Square, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Queen
Elizabeth Hall, Tbilisi Conservatoire Hall, and Kharkiv Conservatoire Hall.
Sofi is passionate about performing as soloist, believing it to be the best way to connect with people's
hearts and minds and to uniquely present the beauty of the musical
language through her artistic mission. She is deeply involved in charity concerts across the
UK,such as Voice of Ukraine (London 2023/2024) to support Ukraine and children in need.
In addition to her musical endeavors, Sofi has a wide array of passions. She enjoys
learning rare languages and painting, as well as
horseback riding, since early childhood. Beginning ballet at the age
of three, Sofi continues to find joy in dance to this day.
